MAYOR & COUNCIL
The Mayor serves as the presiding officer at City Council meetings. Regular City Council meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 PM and take place at the Municipal Building, 250 West Laurens Street, Laurens, SC 29360.
Addressing City Council:
Unless the meeting is a Public Hearing, individuals wishing to address City Council during the Public Participation & Hearing portion of a regular Council meeting must submit a Council Request Form to the City Clerk no less than 24 hours prior to the meeting. Forms are available online and at City Hall.
Remarks must relate directly to items listed on the published meeting agenda. Only individuals whose issues appear on the agenda will be invited to speak, and remarks will be limited to three (3) minutes, subject to the discretion of the Chair. Issues not listed on the agenda will be referred to City staff for review and follow-up outside of the Council meeting.
Agendas are typically published on the City’s website and posted at City Hall no later than the Friday prior to the scheduled meeting.
In the event of inclement weather or City office closures, Council Request Forms should be submitted via email to lmattison@cityoflaurenssc.com by 5:00 PM on the business day prior to the meeting.
All submissions and complaints received by the City of Laurens are considered public record and may be subject to disclosure under the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
