Guidelines
The City of Laurens Streets & Sanitation Department is committed to keeping our community clean, safe, and well-maintained. Please review the guidelines below to ensure proper service and avoid missed pickups.

Garbage Collection
The City provides residential garbage collection Monday through Thursday based on your assigned route. Find your pickup day.
Key Guidelines

Place carts roadside the night before pickup

Only City-issued carts will be serviced
-
All garbage must be bagged
-
If your cart is not out, crews will not return until the next week
Garbage Collection Fees

$20 per month ($240 annually)
-
One cart included per household
Additional & Replacement Carts:

Second cart: $100 per year

Replacement cart: $100
Bulk & Household Items
The City collects certain bulk household items placed roadside.
Accepted:

Furniture (sofas, chairs, mattresses)

Household clutter
-
Cardboard boxes
Placement Rules:
Do NOT place items:

Near hydrants, poles, or signs
-
On water meters
-
Under guide wires
-
In ditches or roadways
Appliance Pickup

Appliances are collected Fridays only (by appointment)

Includes refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, and water heaters

Yard Debris Guidelines
Yard debris must be handled separately from all other materials.

Leaves

Limbs
-
Shrubbery trimmings
Rules:

Must be placed in a separate pile

Do NOT bag leaves
-
Do NOT mix with household garbage
Size Limits:

Max 6 feet long
-
Max 6 inches in diameter
Do NOT place near:

Utility poles
-
Fire hydrants
-
Street signs
-
Water meters
-
Ditches or roadways
-
Do NOT bag leaves
-
Limbs exceeding size limits will not be collected
Important Notice
If a contractor is hired for tree removal or construction work, the contractor is responsible for removing all debris. The City will not collect contractor-generated materials.
